Living in Bridlewood
Bridlewood is a suburban community on the southwestern edge of Calgary, established in 1998. It sits north of Stoney Trail and south of Evergreen, with Somerset to the east. The Bridlewood Creek Wetland, a stormwater wetland created by the City of Calgary, runs along the community’s east side, and the Spruce Meadows equestrian facility is immediately to the south.
Outdoors. The Bridlewood Creek Wetland gives the community a stretch of natural open space close to home. Fish Creek Provincial Park, one of Canada’s largest urban parks, is a short drive north through Evergreen. The community was planned with linear parks and pathways, and the community association notes that almost two dozen kinds of birds use the wetland.
Getting around. Somerset–Bridlewood station, the southern end of the Red Line CTrain, is just east of Bridlewood on the Somerset and Shawnessy border. Stoney Trail runs along the south edge of the community, which connects drivers to the rest of the city. Calgary Transit Route 14 runs through Bridlewood to Somerset–Bridlewood station and on to Cranston and Seton.
Amenities. Shopping in neighbouring Shawnessy, including Shawnessy Towne Centre, covers groceries and day-to-day needs. The Somerset–Bridlewood Community Association serves both communities. Bridlewood School (Calgary Board of Education), Monsignor J.J. O’Brien School (Calgary Catholic) and Glenmore Christian Academy, an independent school on 24 Street SW, are in the community. School designations change from year to year, so check the CBE and Calgary Catholic school finders for a specific address.
Housing. Bridlewood listings are mostly detached houses, along with apartment-style condos and duplexes. That range means buyers can find options from condos to semi-detached homes to larger detached houses in one community.
Comparing nearby areas. Buyers who look at Bridlewood often compare it with Somerset and Evergreen next door, which share many of the same shops, roads and transit options. Looking at age, home type, lot size and any condo fees across all three helps show where your budget goes furthest.
Buying in Bridlewood. For condos, review condo fees, the reserve fund study and the bylaws. For duplexes, check whether the home is on its own title or part of a bare-land condo. For detached homes, compare age, updates and lot. We can help you check the title and RPR before you firm up.
Selling in Bridlewood. Good comparables should match home type, size and updates, and the CTrain and Stoney Trail access are worth highlighting.
