From January to June 2023, 14,315 homes sold in Calgary, 23.40% fewer than in the same months of 2022 (18,687) [1].
What these numbers mean. The benchmark price is CREB®’s price for a “typical” home and is the best number for tracking price trends, because the median and average move with the mix of homes that happen to sell in a month. Months of supply is how long today’s inventory would last at the current pace of sales. A lower number usually means a tighter market for buyers.
What CREB® reported
CREB®’s headline for June 2023: “Another record-high month for Calgary” (news release, July 4, 2023) [2].
CREB® reported a new total residential sales record for June, led by apartment condominiums. New listings improved and inventory rose from May, but it was still more than 36 per cent below last year and the lowest for June in nearly two decades. [2]
