Midnapore is an established community in southeast Calgary with 6,480 residents at the 2021 Census. Two thirds of its homes were built between 1961 and 1980. The housing mix is wider than in many nearby areas: about half single-detached houses, with apartments and townhouses making up most of the rest.

The community borders Fish Creek Provincial Park and includes Lake Midnapore, a private lake run by the Midnapore Lake Residents Association.
