Measured from its centre, Forest Heights is 6.2 km from Calgary City Hall; the community covers 1.51 km² of southeast Calgary. It shares a boundary with Albert Park/Radisson Heights, Forest Lawn, Marlborough and Marlborough Park. The City groups it with the communities built mostly in the 1960s and 1970s.

At the 2021 Census, 78% of its homes were built between 1961 and 1980; the main dwelling types are single-detached houses (38%) and row houses (townhouses) (27%).
