Buying in Airdrie: our local take

As of November 5, 2026, our site shows 425 homes for sale in Airdrie. Median asking prices: detached houses $650,000 (225); semi-detached and duplexes $499,947 (45); townhouses $415,000 (123); condos and apartments $234,950 (26); other homes $308,750 (6). What we like

  • Highway 2 runs straight into north Calgary, and the Stoney Trail ring road is close.
  • Newer homes, with more single-detached houses and row houses than apartments.
  • A full city with its own recreation centre, shops and services, so daily life doesn’t depend on Calgary.
  • Public, Catholic and francophone schools are all in the city.

What to weigh up

  • There is no CTrain, and Highway 2 into Calgary is busy at peak times.
  • Fast growth means construction and new neighbourhoods still filling in.
  • Property taxes and utility rates are set by the City of Airdrie, not Calgary, so ask for the latest tax bill.
  • Police service is the RCMP, not the Calgary Police Service.

Who it suits

Families who want a newer detached home or townhouse for less than a similar Calgary home, people who work in north Calgary or near the airport, and buyers who want city services without living in Calgary itself.

Commute and getting around

Highway 2 runs south to Calgary, and Highway 567 runs west toward Cochrane. Airdrie Transit runs local routes and an ICE commuter bus to Calgary. Check current schedules before you rely on transit.

Before you make an offer

  • Ask for the latest City of Airdrie tax notice and utility costs.
  • For a new build, check the Alberta new home warranty and the builder’s deficiency list.
  • For homes near Nose Creek, check the Alberta flood maps.
  • Confirm which school serves the address with Rocky View Schools and Calgary Catholic.
